What is an infrared sauna?

An infrared sauna uses far-infrared panels, emitting in the 5.6–15 µm range, to warm the body directly rather than heating the air.

Our sauna is operated at approximately 38–43°C, with each session lasting 30 minutes.

The experience is designed to provide a warm, relaxing environment without the high temperatures typically associated with traditional saunas.

Why Canadian hemlock?

Our cabin uses imported Canadian hemlock, a preferred wood for far-infrared saunas:

Low-allergy, no odour, gentle on the airways

very low in oils and resin, so it gives off no sharp smell when heated. Its scent is light and neutral, comfortable for people with allergies or sensitive noses, and the enclosed space never feels stuffy or choking.

Stable wood that resists warping and cracking

the fine, tight grain resists warping, cracking and resin seepage through repeated heating and cooling, so it lasts.

Antibacterial, moisture-resistant and hygienic

the dense structure naturally resists moisture, mould and bacteria, making the humid cabin easier to keep clean.

Gentle heat, comfortable feel

it conducts heat evenly with no hot spots and a mild surface temperature, and works well with far-infrared to spread warmth evenly.

Natural timber, safe and non-toxic

no harmful volatile compounds, and no harmful substances released when heated.

Clean, attractive grain

a soft, pale colour and straight grain for a refined, understated look that lifts the whole experience.

Many sauna woods have a strong scent and can trigger allergies. Canadian hemlock is mild and clean, balancing safety, durability and comfort, which makes it an ideal timber for an infrared sauna.

What happens in a session?

  1. Health check. Let us know if you have any relevant health concerns before beginning your session.

The colour on your towel is different for everyone

  • Red

  • Yellow
  • Teal
  • Blue

Many customers notice colour on their towel after a session, and it is different for everyone. Sweat itself is usually nearly colourless, so the colour may come from skincare, make-up or sunscreen, dye from clothing or towels, skin oils and minerals in sweat.

Towel colour cannot tell you about your health. If your sweat stays an unusual colour, or you feel unwell, please see a doctor.
